Kamal Pallan serves as Partner and Chief Operating Officer of Kuramo Capital Management, LC (KCM or Kuramo Capital), an Independent Investment Management firm driving catalytic private institutional capital to fast-growing African businesses to generate attractive returns and positively impact local communities. To date, Kuramo Capital has catalyzed over $3.5 billion to Sub-Sahara African businesses. 

 

Kuramo Capital has offices in New York City, USA; Lagos, Nigeria; and Nairobi, Kenya. KCM is the General Partner of the $800 million Kuramo Africa Opportunity Funds (KAOF) with commitments from leading US endowments, foundations, and pension plans including the largest pension fund in Africa. 

 

KAOF has direct and indirect investments in 200 companies in 30 Sub-Saharan African countries in sectors such as Fast-Moving Consumer Goods, Infrastructure, Power, Agribusiness, Technology, and Financial Services. 

 

Kamal Pallan serves on the Boards of several portfolio companies. He has held several management positions at JP Morgan, a US financial firm, including Managing Director of the Global Custody business for the Americas. He was also a Product Manager in JP Morgan’s ADR business, where he led GDR and ADR issuance for emerging and frontier market companies. Prior to joining JP Morgan, he was an Engagement Manager in the New York office of McKinsey & Company. 

 

Kamal Pallan holds an MBA from the Wharton School of Business and a BSE (Bachelor of Science in Engineering) in Chemical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania.
